Well said, Sylvain. In my day job, I contact a lot of people who have their own websites (personal, business, or otherwise). Finding an actual telephone number is always a plus.

Thanks Dominique,
I agree, over the last 2-3 years, the web has strangely become my main source of NEW real life friends.

I think that if it wasn't of all those human contacts and the fun I have with the people, I wouldn't be a podcaster/blogger anymore.

Interesting... It's true that having a phone call as a first contact changes things or at least adds perspective. A tone of voice, the inflection of it say a lot about a person, especially if you want that person to come talk about something to a group of people. E-mails don't give us that kind of information and doesn't give us this little extra.

When our phone number is in the phone book, anyone can access it anyways.

As for keeping personal lives more private, I guess it's a line that we trace according to our beliefs, our experiences and the way we use the web. Personaly, talking about my life made me connect in a different way with people I cherish very much. I revealed myself to the web and strangely, people close to me got to know me better. Plus I made new friends I am now seeing once in a while. So when I hear people saying that Internet deprives us from real relationships, I say blahhhh to them ;-)
